The Great Smoky Mountains are a real special place for me. Growing up, we always made a point to stay in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge on our family road trips down to Florida (visiting my Uncle). We took that trip just about every year, and every year we drove through the Smokies. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited National Park in the country and it’s because its right there, in the middle of it all. Convenient to visit and too beautiful to miss. Nowadays I stop there almost every year on my way to North Carolina where I take woodworking classes. And even more recently I’ve taken to exploring the areas adjacent to the park including the Blue Ridge Parkway. Every visit I find more and more to love about Appalachia.
