There is one moment walking through Copenhagen that I’ll never forget. I had come to a street and the don’t walk sign was illuminated. It was a tiny two lane road next to a museum and there was no traffic in sight. Under normal circumstances, if I were in the US, myself and everyone else waiting at the crosswalk would have walked across the street. However, in Copenhagen, everyone waited. They waited a full 30 or 45 seconds before crossing the empty street. I have no idea if that’s typical, or if I just happened to see a miracle of human patience. But I’ll never forget it.
